What I Wore In Paris

For those of you who follow me on Instagram, you’ll know that I recently visited Paris for a few days; to explore the beautiful city, get a better feel for the language and of course stop off at Disneyland. I loved putting together some city chic outfits so I thought I’d share with you what I wore whilst I was there…

Galentine’s Day

I’ll be honest I was kind of dreading Valentines Day this year, everything is so in your face ‘relationshippy’ and ‘oh look you’re very single’ orientated. But after moping around for a while, and seeing some Galentine’s posts, I came to the realisation that this is a perfect time to celebrate the amazing women in my life and most importantly my best friend who has been through so much with me.

The Best Friend

In case you guys didn’t know Frankie’s the one who tends to take my photographs for me (I’ll leave her links at the bottom). But aswell as being the gal behind my photographs, she’s also been there for me through some of my most wildest, and happiest times. She is one of the most supportive people I know and despite her recent move to Nottingham is always there for me. So seeing as though it’s International Women’s day soon too, I just wanted to share with you this strong, inspirational gal and some throwback photos of ours.

Please excuse all bad hairstyles and stupid faces in these photographs, we were young and adventurous.

How We Spent The Day

We decided to celebrate Galentine’s day by having a super cute day in the city- wondering the shops in Valentines themed red and pink outfits, a cheeky Starbucks and silly photo booth pictures, followed by a night in with some face masks and overly cheesy films. I captured snippets of our day over on my insta story- if you haven’t seen it already you can watch it here.

We loved playing with colour this Valentines Day and slayed in bold pinks and reds. We found that Boohoo had a great selection of pieces that were bright and playful and suited both of our individual styles. Again, full outfit photos can be found over on my insta stories.

I’d love to hear about how you spent Valentine’s Day, whether it’s in the comments or over on instagram 🙂

Happy Galentine’s Day to all those strong independent women out there.

The Green EDIT

Although there’s still snow on the ground here, I’m so looking forward to Spring in all it’s light jacket glory. I’m dreaming of the days I can wear my leather jacket without two extra layers underneath and my converse without my toes turning into tiny icicles.

I love playing around with colour in Spring and a key trend I’ve noticed popping up along the high street is this lovely shade of green. It’s safe to say that I’m becoming a little bit obsessed with it, especially since I recently purchased a pair of Adidas Stan Smith green and white trainers. So for this extra post of the week I’m going to share with you all the stunning green pieces I’ve found and what’s on my wish list for Spring 2018.

outfit two

Shirt Dress – H & M – £29.99, Bag – River Island – £35, Necklace – Accessorize – £15, Shoes – River Island – £32

Ok, so maybe a little bit of a white lie.  This outfit’s more Summer than Spring, well for England’s Spring it is. This outfit would be perfect to pack for a February getaway to a hotter climate or for a city chic weekend this Summer. The pops of green in the shoes and bag will transform the white shirt dress into a fun, sophisticated, easy to wear outfit.

outfit three

Jeans – Topshop – £40, Earrings – New Look – £7.99, Top – River Island – £30, Boots – Public Desire – £39.99

This outfit screams Spring. These Libby Boots from Public Desire are high on my wish list at the moment, and paired with these cropped wide leg jeans will create a perfect elongated silhouette. To further rock this girl boss vibe I decided to pair them with this stunning green bell sleeve wrap crop top and statement earrings. Finish this look with a messy bun and you’re good to go.

outfit one

Jeans– Mango – £35.99, Shirt – River Island – £35, Sunglasses – River Island – £16, Shoes – Next – £38

I found these dreamy shoes thanks to Laura over at Laura’s Little Locket ( You can find her Instagram here). Laura featured the leopard print versions on her Insta and I fell in love with them. I decided to pair the white version with this split sleeve white and green stripe shirt, which strangely reminds me of a shirt my Nan used to wear years ago, and these rather quirky retro style sunglasses from River Island. This outfit is definitely the sort of thing I’d choose to wear to go shopping or to head to a family meal in.

Below are a few other fabby green pieces I’ve stumbled across.

The One Item You Need To Purchase In The Sales

There’s nothing quite like finding an absolute bargain in the sales. And as January comes to a close I’m here to let you know about the sale you need to check out before it’s too late. Public Desire currently have a sale on, slashing their prices, starting from £9.99 across all sale footwear.

edit 1 done

For a few months I’d been lusting after these regal lace up ankle boots when they were full price at £39.99, so when I saw them for £10 in the sale there was no questioning. These boots are even more gorgeous in real life. They have beautiful embossed floral detailing along the faux leather and a pink and red patterned tip on the pointed toe. These shoes are a definite statement and jazz up any plain outfit.

edit 2 done

I decided to pair these lace up boots with some blue mom jeans, a staple black roll neck tee and a red clear bag, but these boots would look just as chic if they were teamed with skinny jeans and an over sized shirt- the stiletto heel really helps to elongate your silhouette. Keep an eye out for them as I plan to feature them in future fashion posts.

edit 4 done

These boots are currently out of stock but the black and denim are still available- you can find them at the links below. These would be perfect if you’re after a more wearable colour.

How to create the perfect Transitional Outfit

It’s definitely getting to that time of year where you’re cold in the morning but then boiling by midday, which causes havoc for when you’re choosing what to wear. In this post I’ll be showing you one of the outfits I’ve been loving for this awkward time of the year and how you can replicate it.

IMG_5739

Number One: The Main Event

IMG_5782

The staple piece for this outfit is definitely the light grey, delicate jumper I picked up when I was in Spain recently from a shop called Springfield. I really like how the sewed in quote of ‘collect little pretty moments’ is matched in daintiness by the small ruffles on the shoulders. This quirky jumper is perfect for this time of year, and if the weather was slightly cooler then this would look fantastic paired with a black leather jacket. Thin jumpers are definitely a way to go at this awkward time of the season…keeping you warm in the morning but cool in the afternoon.

Number Two: The Essential

IMG_5738

I’ve been loving these jeans from Next recently! They’re not completely skinny jeans nor mom jeans, they have a more of a relaxed fit and I think that’s why they look so ‘city chic’ when worn with converse or trainers. The slight distressed detailing on the knee and thigh adds an edge to the outfit that contrasts with the delicateness of the jumper. Absolutely obsessed with the way that you can pair these jeans with anything and achieve that ‘I’ve just rolled out of bed and still look cool’ look.

Number Three: The City Chic

IMG_5753

I don’t know what to say about these shoes. They’re just fab. These converse style, lilac, grey, velvet trainers are from Next and whilst also being the comfiest things ever, add a lot of texture to what would otherwise be a quite plain outfit. Gotta love them slightly ‘out there’ shoes!!

Number Four: The ‘why the hell not’

IMG_5763

And Finally I decided to finish this outfit with a pair of medium sized silver hoops which can be found in Topshop. These hoops, worn with your hair can really frame the face, and make you feel just very sassy.

I hope this post has been useful guys, feel free to comment below any transitional pieces you’ve been loving at the moment.

The secrets behind changing my life

I’m changing my life. For the first time in 14 years I’m out of education; I’m free and ready to grab life by the horns. I’ve recently finished college and have decided to take a gap year, and I’ll be documenting everything I get up to, on my little, cosy corner of the internet…here.

DSC_0291

I’ve already started planning some very exciting things to do during my year out, including learning French and travelling to Paris to test my skills, going on a 60 mile charity walk and exploring lots of exciting new places in the UK and abroad. I don’t want to give too much away as to where I’ll be travelling so that you can follow along with my journeys as they happen.

If  you want to keep up with my everyday adventures during my gap year be sure to follow me on Instagram at LeahPelly where I’ll be uploading new photos daily and capturing normal life for a gap year blogger on my story.

Beauty Haul

Recently I seemed to have gone on a huge beauty splurge- so that I am all prepared for the start of college next week..eeeek! Lets just say I’m very nervous but very excited about that.

So the first place I went to was Boots where I finally picked up a Boots Advantage card for myself and also went a little bit crazy. Is it just me or does Boots draw you in with the little ‘3 for 2’ or ‘Buy 2 get the cheapest free’ offers they seem to always have on?

I picked up a new mascara for myself – the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara. I’ve seen this used in lots of Gabby’s (VelvetGh0st) videos on Youtube and her lashes always look amazing so I thought I’d give it a try. Gabby also inspired my next purchase (another Maybelline product) a Color Drama intense Velvet lip Pencil in the shade 150 Fuchsia Desire. I wore this yesterday, and I have to say I’m loving the formulation of this product – it’s so creamy on the lips yet still has got this lovely matte finish that feels like you haven’t got anything on your lips at all. I think I should really look into purchasing some more of these. I also purchased some strawberry Carmex from Primark.

It’s reached that point in the year again when I run out of concealer and feel the need to try a different one. This time I decided to pick up Soap and Glory’s Kick Ass Concealer. It is slightly different to the concealers I’ve brought before in terms of application but it works like a dream and the packaging is super cute- as it always is from Soap and Glory. Due to them cheeky little Boots deals I picked up another S&G product: the Archery Brow filling pencil and brush in shade Hot Chocolate. This makes my brows look incredible – a much neater and natural finish than products I’ve used before. However I don’t really like how the pencil part is one of those ‘twistable’ things… you know them ‘twisty’ things that push the product up instead of you sharpening it? Yeah, I don’t like them, I feel like they work for a bit but then they always end up breaking on me- do any of you have this problem?

I purchased 2 Rimmel products: the Rimmel Wake Me Up anti-fatigue Foundation and the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder. Two basics really. I usually buy the Rimmel Match Perfection but the Wake Me Up was on offer so I decided to mix it up a bit and I thought the Stay Matte Powder will be great for those days in College when I need to touch up.

And Finally, from Boots I bought the Real Techniques Core Collection Brush Set. I have wanted these brushes for soooo long and when I saw that they were on offer (there’s £10 off them in Boots go grab them now!) I had to get them. I’ve been using them for the last couple of days and they are amazing- they have totally altered the way I put my makeup on and the finish on my makeup is so much better than it was before. I LOVE THESE BRUSHES! If you follow me on Instagram you will already know this.

Ok, Skincare. I went into Poundsaver recently and I know what your thinking Poundsaver and Skincare? but yes when I went to Boots I forgot to pick up my usual Tea Tree Moisturiser so instead of going back to Boots I picked up this Tea Tree daily use, cleansing facial scrub suitable for all skin types. It was only a pound so I wasn’t expecting miraculous results but so far I am loving it. I’ve used it twice already – last night and this morning and my skin feels really soft. I think I’m going to continue using it for a week and then do a review on it for you. When I was in Poundsaver I also picked up these Tea Tree deep cleansing nose pore strips. I have heard Louise (Sprinkle of Glitter) talk about something similair to these on her channel before and so because they were a £1 I decided to pick them up. I used one last night and they worked like a treat.

Finally, I picked up these Nspa Body Mists from Asda. They smell absolutely incredible. I’ve been seriously loving the smell of Passion Fruit recently so I picked up the ‘seriously intense passion fruit’ one along with the ‘fresh, sweet raspberry’ scented one. They are so strongly scented and smell really girly and pretty. (I’m not good at describing scents but hey ho).Next time your doing your shopping go give them a smell. They’re also on 2 for £4 so your saving a pound too.

I hope you enjoyed this post. What beauty products have you been loving lately? Please let me know down below.

Sunday Recipe | Banana Nut Bread.

Today I’m giving you a flawless recipe so that you can encompass your inner kitchen goddess and get baking. I recently made this cake for my Mum’s birthday a few weeks ago and I’ve been dying to make it again.

The following recipe does contain Walnuts so obviously don’t attempt this recipe if you are allergic to nuts.

Ingredients

225g Plain Flour                    Plus extra for dusting

1tsp Salt

1tsp Bicarbonate Of Soda

115g UnsaltedButter             Plus  extra for greasing

200g Caster Sugar

2 Eggs

3 Bananas                              Mashed

115g Walnuts                         Chopped

2 tbsp Milk

Preheat Your Oven to 160 degrees C/ 325 degrees F/ Gas Mark 3.

Lightly Grease and flour a 900-g/2-lb loaf tin.

Sift together the flour, salt, baking powder and bicarbonate of soda into  a bowl and set aside.

Cream together the butter and sugar in a seperate bowl until pale and fluffy. Gradually add the eggs, beating well after each addition. Stir in the bananas, walnuts and milk until thoroughly mixed. Then add the flour mixture and stir until everything is combined.

Spoon the mixture into the prepared tin.

Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour 10 minutes, until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean.

Leave to cool in the tin for 20 minutes before turning out.

And this is the final result. This delicious and easy to make desert has certainly become a family favourite and I dare say it’ll all be gone by the end of tonight,

Hope you have a fabulous weekend,

Leah xxx
