REVIEW: Max Factor Lipfinity

IMG_3180.JPG

I was browsing my local Boots store at the weekend when I stumbled across these liquid lip colours at the Max Factor counter – a brand which I rarely buy from. I was drawn to them by their classy gold packaging and resemblance of the Kylie Jenner lip kits (really want to try them!!) There are a wide variety of shades but these two were the ones that managed to jump into my basket: 003 Mellow Rose and 160 Iced. Iced is a lovely brown, nude, nineties vibe shade whilst Mellow Rose is a blue toned pink.

So that I could give you a full review of them I wore ‘Iced’ to college today. As these lip products come with two products the box describes how firstly you apply the lip colour and then when dry, you apply the clear balm.

On application of the product it goes on quite smoothly and the doe foot applicator makes it easy to put on. I did find that when applying shade ‘Mellow Rose’ it went on quite streaky and so I had to put two coats of the lip colour on in order to achieve the desired opaque effect, but one coat was fine for ‘Iced’. Next, you have to keep your lips apart whilst the liquid lip colour sets. This isn’t great if you’re in a hurry but is a vital step if you want your lip colour to look good – as I found this stage to feel sticky and in all honesty a bit gross. After the colour drys you then put on the much needed balm on top which helps to stop the feeling that your lips have been dried to an inch of their life. This balm can then be used to touch up throughout the day. I feel that this is definitely needed – especially if you don’t like the feeling of very matte, dry lips.

However, despite the not so great application process I do have to give it to Max Factor that this is definitely a product that lasts! It did not come off throughout the day, even after eating. I highly recommend this product, if you don’t mind spending a little bit more time on the application process, if you’ve been looking for a ‘stay-all-day’ lip colour. It definitely lasts 24 hours!

BUT, and it is a big but. Although these durable lip colours will stay throughout the day they just want to stay all night too. I have found that they are nearly impossible to get off. I have tried a combination of ‘Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water’ and ‘Lush’s lip scrub’ in an attempt to rid myself of the product. It does recommend on the back of the product to use an oil based remover which may be where I have gone wrong. Please listen to that advice if you are going to purchase these products as it feels as though your scraping paint off otherwise.

Lastly, I feel that  I would probably only recommend these products if someone was looking for a good drugstore liquid lipstick that has all day staying power as the hassle of trying to remove it pushes me to recommend more pricey products. Therefore, I am going to give this product 3 * / 5.

Beauty Haul

Recently I seemed to have gone on a huge beauty splurge- so that I am all prepared for the start of college next week..eeeek! Lets just say I’m very nervous but very excited about that.

So the first place I went to was Boots where I finally picked up a Boots Advantage card for myself and also went a little bit crazy. Is it just me or does Boots draw you in with the little ‘3 for 2’ or ‘Buy 2 get the cheapest free’ offers they seem to always have on?

I picked up a new mascara for myself – the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara. I’ve seen this used in lots of Gabby’s (VelvetGh0st) videos on Youtube and her lashes always look amazing so I thought I’d give it a try. Gabby also inspired my next purchase (another Maybelline product) a Color Drama intense Velvet lip Pencil in the shade 150 Fuchsia Desire. I wore this yesterday, and I have to say I’m loving the formulation of this product – it’s so creamy on the lips yet still has got this lovely matte finish that feels like you haven’t got anything on your lips at all. I think I should really look into purchasing some more of these. I also purchased some strawberry Carmex from Primark.

It’s reached that point in the year again when I run out of concealer and feel the need to try a different one. This time I decided to pick up Soap and Glory’s Kick Ass Concealer. It is slightly different to the concealers I’ve brought before in terms of application but it works like a dream and the packaging is super cute- as it always is from Soap and Glory. Due to them cheeky little Boots deals I picked up another S&G product: the Archery Brow filling pencil and brush in shade Hot Chocolate. This makes my brows look incredible – a much neater and natural finish than products I’ve used before. However I don’t really like how the pencil part is one of those ‘twistable’ things… you know them ‘twisty’ things that push the product up instead of you sharpening it? Yeah, I don’t like them, I feel like they work for a bit but then they always end up breaking on me- do any of you have this problem?

I purchased 2 Rimmel products: the Rimmel Wake Me Up anti-fatigue Foundation and the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder. Two basics really. I usually buy the Rimmel Match Perfection but the Wake Me Up was on offer so I decided to mix it up a bit and I thought the Stay Matte Powder will be great for those days in College when I need to touch up.

And Finally, from Boots I bought the Real Techniques Core Collection Brush Set. I have wanted these brushes for soooo long and when I saw that they were on offer (there’s £10 off them in Boots go grab them now!) I had to get them. I’ve been using them for the last couple of days and they are amazing- they have totally altered the way I put my makeup on and the finish on my makeup is so much better than it was before. I LOVE THESE BRUSHES! If you follow me on Instagram you will already know this.

Ok, Skincare. I went into Poundsaver recently and I know what your thinking Poundsaver and Skincare? but yes when I went to Boots I forgot to pick up my usual Tea Tree Moisturiser so instead of going back to Boots I picked up this Tea Tree daily use, cleansing facial scrub suitable for all skin types. It was only a pound so I wasn’t expecting miraculous results but so far I am loving it. I’ve used it twice already – last night and this morning and my skin feels really soft. I think I’m going to continue using it for a week and then do a review on it for you. When I was in Poundsaver I also picked up these Tea Tree deep cleansing nose pore strips. I have heard Louise (Sprinkle of Glitter) talk about something similair to these on her channel before and so because they were a £1 I decided to pick them up. I used one last night and they worked like a treat.

Finally, I picked up these Nspa Body Mists from Asda. They smell absolutely incredible. I’ve been seriously loving the smell of Passion Fruit recently so I picked up the ‘seriously intense passion fruit’ one along with the ‘fresh, sweet raspberry’ scented one. They are so strongly scented and smell really girly and pretty. (I’m not good at describing scents but hey ho).Next time your doing your shopping go give them a smell. They’re also on 2 for £4 so your saving a pound too.

I hope you enjoyed this post. What beauty products have you been loving lately? Please let me know down below.

Sunday Recipe | Banana Nut Bread.

Today I’m giving you a flawless recipe so that you can encompass your inner kitchen goddess and get baking. I recently made this cake for my Mum’s birthday a few weeks ago and I’ve been dying to make it again.

The following recipe does contain Walnuts so obviously don’t attempt this recipe if you are allergic to nuts.

Ingredients

225g Plain Flour                    Plus extra for dusting

1tsp Salt

1tsp Bicarbonate Of Soda

115g UnsaltedButter             Plus  extra for greasing

200g Caster Sugar

2 Eggs

3 Bananas                              Mashed

115g Walnuts                         Chopped

2 tbsp Milk

Preheat Your Oven to 160 degrees C/ 325 degrees F/ Gas Mark 3.

Lightly Grease and flour a 900-g/2-lb loaf tin.

Sift together the flour, salt, baking powder and bicarbonate of soda into  a bowl and set aside.

Cream together the butter and sugar in a seperate bowl until pale and fluffy. Gradually add the eggs, beating well after each addition. Stir in the bananas, walnuts and milk until thoroughly mixed. Then add the flour mixture and stir until everything is combined.

Spoon the mixture into the prepared tin.

Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour 10 minutes, until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean.

Leave to cool in the tin for 20 minutes before turning out.

And this is the final result. This delicious and easy to make desert has certainly become a family favourite and I dare say it’ll all be gone by the end of tonight,

Hope you have a fabulous weekend,

Time to Travel

Seeing a lot of people going on Holiday and travelling to exotic places this Summer has got me thinking about where I want to travel in the future. So here are the places I would love to go and visit some day.

  • America – I want to travel all over America from Los Angeles, San Francisco,New York and Nashville. I just think it would be great to travel to big cities and spend the day getting lost amongst the bright lights and small ‘hipster’ coffee shops.
  • Italy – I would love to visit Pompeii, Mount Vesuvias and Venice: birthplace of the waltz. I think the devastation of Pompeii is both devastating and mesmerizing.
  • France (Paris) – I visited Paris with my family a while ago when I was about 8, but I can’t really remember it so I would really love to go back and explore it all over again.
  • Dubai – I think Dubai is so extraordinary – it looks like a city from the future with it’s contemporary skylines and luxury lifestyle. Visiting here would definitely be a once in a lifetime experience.
  • Australia – First off, who just read that in an Australian accent because I sure did type it in one. Australia’s Great Barrier Reef is just one of the many reasons to visit this fascinating place. Plus, it has a wonderful history!
  • Egypt – And finally, Egypt. It is a place of mystery and magic. The Egyptians beliefs about afterlife are completely mind blowing and their pharaoh’s are something out of fantasy stories. This place is definitely home to some of the greatest human architecture that has ever existed.

Please let me know down below where you would like to travel or where you have visited this Summer. i would love to here about your adventures.

GLAMOUR, Ingredients & Nails.

I’m currently sat here on my sofa all comfy and watching a few episodes of Miranda. I’ve yet to make a list of the ingredients I will need to make my Mum’s birthday cake for tomorrow and I need to paint my nails (I’m using Barry M’s Jelly shine in shade passion fruit… I think)  in order for me to get out of the horrible habit of being a nibbler. But to be honest I didn’t have that much sleep last night and the summer sun that seems to have appeared is draining me of the little energy I had built up.

I am super busy this upcoming week and so I am super excited. It’s my Mum’s birthday – this is what has inspired my surge for baking tomorrow, we’re going out for a Birthday meal on Thursday. Plus, on Friday we are travelling to Newcastle Upon Tyne to do some well earned shopping as my Brother and my Dad are walking Hadrian’s Wall this week: we are going to meet them at the end.

Pictured above are some of things I’ve been loving recently and somethings I’ll be taking with me to Newcastle -obviously not my mason jar cup. I picked up the latest issue of GLAMOUR yesterday as the cover girl is Blake Lively and as I have recently finished Gossip Girl I’ll read to listen to anything that has got a link with it. I have been loving blush this season and this Bare Mineral angled blush brush has made the application a dream. Over the summer I promised myself I’d get back into writing imaginatively and sketching and so I’ll be packing this sharpie which I can write all my ideas down with.

I’m going to incorporate lots of fashion soon, so keep checking back,
